We incorporate best practices into every aspect of our business: from property sourcing, renovation and refurbishment to our daily operations.

We aim to provide all the luxury services and amenities that our guests require to have an unforgettable experience, while eliminating those they do not need but are often charged for. Our buildings feature welcoming reception areas, but we avoid large, lofty lobbies, vacant meeting rooms and other conference, banquet, and dining areas that most of our guests rarely use. The benefit of this model is twofold:
1) We eliminate much of the excessive energy and resource consumption commonplace in more traditional hospitality offerings
2) It helps us keep our prices competitive
On top of reducing energy and resource waste, we also try do our part by incorporating sustainability best practices into our day-to-day operations.
While we are not 100% green, we are doing our best to limit our impact on the environment and strive towards a more sustainable future.

Our
Properties
Our company’s mission is to identify, acquire, renovate, and manage unique, landmark buildings in major cities around Europe. Our properties are striking, emblematic and steeped in history, often one hundred years old, if not more.
Both of our current properties underwent extensive refurbishments before welcoming guests. Ayala 63 is one of the rare Art Nouveau jewels in Madrid, and Palacio Tirso De Molina is a 17th century palace. As such, both renovations respected the original structures, while embedding modern infrastructure into their foundations to marry the splendour of the past to the higher efficiency and sustainability efforts of the present.
Due to the historical and listed nature of our buildings, it is challenging to achieve the same energy efficiency as with new builds. Despite these limitations, we have managed to significantly increase the initial efficiency of our buildings, which have both been awarded an Energy Efficiency Rating of B+ for non-renewable primary energy consumption and CO2 emissions.

Our careful renovations have led to significant improvements in our buildings’ overall energy efficiency, and we have also striven, wherever possible, to either reuse the original building features or locally source new materials.

Heating & Air-Conditioning
- We are on the road to becoming greener but we’re not there yet, so our properties rely on both renewable and fossil energy sources
- Our gas boilers work in tandem with solar panel systems to provide hot water and heating
- Our apartments come fitted with duct-based inverter air-conditioning systems and we use Mitsubishi PEZS series direct expansion units for their high energy efficiency
- Our double-glazed windows provide thermal isolation, reducing the need for heating or air conditioning use. This also reduces street noise considerably
Lighting
- All of our apartments use smart LED lighting systems to minimise energy consumption
- Our hallways and storage areas have built-in motion sensing and timer technology so that they are only switched on when in use
Waste & Water
- We try to make it easy for our guests to recycle in our properties by colour-coding the different bins in all apartments
- We collect used Nespresso coffee capsules in our apartments so that they can be recycled
- We try to limit the amount of water being unnecessarily consumed in whatever ways that we can. Our cleaning staff check tap and showers every day for leaks to minimise water waste during their daily bed-turndown and bathroom cleaning service
- For longer stays we replace towels and sheets once a week to reduce water usage, unless our guests require more frequent changes
Plastic
- We aim not to provide guests with any form of single-use disposable plastic products
- If guests wish us to order food or groceries on their behalf, we try our best that any deliveries do not come with disposable plastic cutlery or in plastic bags
- We do not use single-use plastic key cards. Our keys are made of metal and wood, or else are reusable plastic key cards
- All our apartments come supplied with Numen still water in reusable glass bottles that we return to be cleaned and refilled. The glass bottles are collected at the end of each stay only so that guests can reuse the bottle for the duration of their time with The Arc Collection
- Our complimentary ALQVIMIA hair & body care products are all contained in rPET plastic bottles. rPET is recycled PET plastic, one of the most common types of plastics used for general use products. Using rPET helps to create a circular economy by keeping materials in circulation that have already been extracted from the earth to make plastic products
- ALQVIMIA is a Spanish company that only uses 100% natural ingredients so that their products are not only kind to the body, but also to the environment

The steps we have taken in our properties towards creating a more sustainable product are by no means at an end. This is an ongoing process that we will continue to monitor and evaluate. As our platform grows, we will seek to implement additional measures in our properties.
